VASTU AND PLANTS

Green plants and trees are universally loved. They look beautiful and also have a calming effect on the mind of the residents. Plants and trees play a pivotal role in energizing the atmosphere. They  help to neutralize the excessive effects of electromagnetic fields caused by electrical appliances, computers and cellphones and raise stagnant energy.

However there are some Vastu rules to be observed regarding plants and trees:

  1. Trees should not be grown in the North, East or North East. Small, decorative plants and shrubs, lawns and flower beds can be grown in this area. Most importantly, holy basil (tulsi) should be grown in the North East zone.
  1. All thorny plants and plants that exude white sap should not be planted in the house. Adverse effects include financial crisis and mental tension.
  1. If any thorny plant or tree cannot be removed, its negative effect can be curtailed by placing a tulsi plant by its side. The tulsi has the exquisite quality of neutralizing negativity and cleaning up the atmosphere.
  1. Mango tree represents Venus which rules the South East. Soany problem in the South East can be rectified by planting a mango tree in this zone.
  1. Growing creepers with support on the compound wall or the building wall is best avoided.
  1. If there is a sufficiently large compound outside the house , such that the shadow of the trees do not fall on the house, then the following trees can be planted:
  • Neem in the North West
  • Mango in the South East
  • Pomegranate in the East
  • Banana tree in the North East
  1. Audumber traditionally represents Guru Tatwa (gravitational force). Thus it is very beneficial to plant it in the South West because it results in holistic positivity. Christmas tree has a pyramidical shape and can be said to be a living pyramid. Thus it is also a very beneficial tree.
  2. Aromatic fragrant plants can be planted in the North West to give fresh dimension to wind element.
